Bring your child and learn how to make beautiful pysanky: Easter eggs in the traditional Ukrainian style.

Learn about this ancient and beautiful way of ushering in spring and the techniques necessary to transform a plain egg into an intricate colourful object of hope.

This adult and child (9years+) workshop will introduce you to the symbols, cultural context, and lore behind this ancient craft, while also gaining the practical skills of applying wax with a stylus, dyeing, and revealing their egg design.

Pysanka kits and individuals tools will also be available for purchase

This is a collaboration with Bozena Hrycyna, director of Folk Camp, an organization connecting people with the folk arts, crafts, music, and land based traditions of Eastern Europe in the Canadian context.

All proceeds of this workshop will be donated to the Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal by the Red Cross. You can also make a donation when buying a ticket for this workshop which we will include in our final donation at the end of the pysanky workshops held at OTL.
