This workshop occurs in two parts:
Part 1, Oct. 12th:
Learn how to make your own wooden knitting needles with basic wood working tools and techniques. We’ll shape, smooth, and decorate poplar dowel into 1/2″ needles, great for beginner knitters. People of all levels of tool experience are welcome!
Part 2, Oct. 19th:
Using your brand new knitting needles and other provided materials, we will learn the basics of knitting: what factors go into choosing materials and patterns, starting (or ‘casting on’) a project, how to use a knit stitch, and how to finish (or ‘cast off’) a project. Using and practicing these skills, we will make a functional and stylish trivet/pot holder.
Make this sturdy pot holder in our workshop and you’ll be off to the races with new knitting skills.
