Learn how to hang an axe head onto a custom made handle – not just your basic hardware store handle.
This workshop will teach you how to use a drawknife and spokeshave to shape your axe handle. These hand tools allow you to carve the wood handle for tightly fit onto the axe head. To finish, we will wedge the head onto the handle. We will also address how to keep your axe sharp.
Our instructor, Adam, has been using axes regularly for five years to complete a number of wood processing tasks such as: felling trees, limbing branches, chopping logs, splitting firewood, cleaving timber, hewing timber, hewing planks, and carving spoons. Most of the axes that he uses are vintage heads hung on my custom made handles.
Note:
Workshops are transferable to another person, but non-refundable. Please make sure this date works with your schedule.
