In this hands-on workshop, you’ll build your own plant stand out of hardwood.

In this hands-on woodworking workshop, you’ll learn to build an elegant, 4′ x 3′ plant stand from beautiful walnut and maple hardwoods. This impressive piece is designed to be as functional as it is striking, providing a perfect home for your favourite plants.

We’ll provide you with some pre-cut components so we can focus on the critical fine-woodworking skills needed to build the stand. You’ll work with both power and hand tools to complete the remaining components and assemble the project.

By the end of this class, you’ll have gained skills and confidence in a variety of woodworking techniques, including:

• Half-lap joints: Learn to create these strong, interlocking joints with precision.

• Grooves and miters: Master the techniques for cutting clean grooves and perfect mitered corners using a router plane, router table, hand saw and shooting board.

• Final assembly: Practice the clamping and gluing techniques required for a strong, lasting assembly.

Your instructor, Chris Roy, is an experienced furniture maker based just outside of Ottawa. Chris has dedicated nearly a decade to building custom dressers and tables, bedframes, chairs, shoe racks, plant stands, and more.

NOTE: Workshops are transferable to another person and only refundable if we have people on the waiting list who can take your spot. Please make sure this date works with your schedule.
