WorkSpace Safety & Orientation @ Ottawa Tool Library

This Safety & Orientation course is required for anyone who wants to work in the OTL WorkSpace on their project.

You will receive training on the safe usage of the following tools: band saw, mitre saw, drill press, drill, scroll saw, jig saw, and sander. It not only covers tool safety but is also an orientation to working in the space with others.

Once you’ve completed this orientation you can purchase a monthly or daily pass to our WorkSpace at the tool library. More info on our website.

Want to learn more about urban food production or trying to get your own garden going?

This is an introduction to growing your own food in an urban setting. We’ll look at available resources, design concepts, and how to access possible growing spaces.

You’ll also learn the best vegetable options to plant for our changing climate as well as hardening off and planting transplants.

You’ll be all set for starting or expanding your garden in our urban setting.

DIY Bike Maintenance @ Ottawa Tool Library

Do your own bike maintenance with our extensive set of bike tools (ParkTool) at the tool library.

We have two bike stands, provide basic supplies (lube, rags, etc.) but you will need to bring any replacement parts needed.

Note: chain cleaning is not available because we don’t have a sink.

Our resident bike mechanic will be on hand to answer any questions you might have.

This DIY bike maintenance event will be held every last Wedn. of the  month for the summer. Tickets via Eventbrite.

Backsplash Reno Workshop @ Ottawa Tool Library

In this 6 hr hands-on workshop, participants will learn all the steps and skills involved in removing and replacing a kitchen backsplash. We will cover selective demolition, basic drywall repair, tile layout, cutting, and installation, as well as grouting and caulking.

We will take a 45 min lunch break.

Please wear closed-toed shoes and clothing you don’t mind getting stained. No baggy shirts, long jewelry, or untied hair.

Our instructor, Jacob Morgan, owner of Morgan Quality Homes, is a Red Seal general contractor with seven years experience in the field.
